Training Programme Offers Excellent Welcome To Customers
The Grand Opera House, Belfast is one of the latest
businesses in the local tourism industry to demonstrate
their commitment to delivering exceptional customer
care by becoming involved in the Welcome to Excellence
Programme, developed by the Tourism Training Trust
and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
The Welcome to Excellence Programme, provides a
suite of three customer care programmes, which are
open to all local businesses operating in the tourism,
leisure and hospitality industry which aims to provide
staff training on many different situations such as
how they should deal with a number of common situations,
improving customer service and drawing more customers
through the doors.
The Grand Opera House, have proved their dedication
to providing good customer care practice by committing
resources to train three of their staff to become
in-house corporate trainers who will then deliver
the Welcome to Excellence Programme on an ongoing
basis to their current staff and any new recruits
in the future.
Colin O’Neill, Grand Opera House explained, “The
Grand Opera House take our staff training in customer
service very seriously and the Welcome to Excellence
Programme will ensure we are training our staff to
the highest possible standard not just for new recruits
but for all staff and I would encourage any business
involved in the tourism and hospitality industry to
consider implementing this essential programme.”
The programme training is delivered via a network
of trainers across Northern Ireland who show businesses
how to provide a first class standard of service on
a consistent bases to both visitors and local residents
by using a variety of training methods to highlight
useful techniques and skills. The programmes also
encourage delegates to take an interest in their own
personal development.

Trust explained, “The Welcome to Excellence programmes
are designed to enable organisations in tourism and
related industries to maximise the many benefits of
quality customer service including higher and repeat
business, favourable word of mouth recommendations
and staff retention. It also reminds those in the
tourism industry the importance of local business
too. The programme is suitable not only for those
new to the industry but as an important refresher
course to those in the business for many years also.
Northern Ireland has a lot to offer and we need to
ensure that the service in our hospitality industry
is first class in every aspect. The Welcome to Excellence
Programme can help any business or organization to
achieve this level of excellence. There are now 3
one day training programmes available in Northern
Ireland, which provide front-line staff and managers
with the skills they need to provide these high standards
